Our story begins back in July 2013 when my husband and I tied the knot. We were eager to start a family, and after three years of trying with no success, we decided to seek medical advice. While my fertility was in good shape, my husband faced some challenges due to male factor sterility caused by leukemia he had survived as a teenager. Unfortunately, he wasn’t given the option to freeze his sperm back then, which left us feeling uncertain about our options.
After taking time to think things through, we knew we wanted a donor who resembled my husband as closely as possible. However, the costs associated with sperm banks were daunting. Just when we were starting to feel discouraged, a silver lining appeared. My husband’s cousin graciously offered to help us out, and the resemblance between them was uncanny!
With our plan in place, we decided to try at-home insemination. We gathered the needed supplies and got started. To our delight, we were pregnant after just one cycle! We found out we were expecting over Memorial Day weekend, and our little miracle arrived on February 13, 2020, a bit earlier than her due date of February 22. She’s perfect in every way! We’re looking forward to expanding our family in the future and will definitely use at-home insemination again.
