For many couples, the journey to parenthood can be filled with challenges and emotional highs and lows. This was the case for my partner, Jamie, and me. We’ve always dreamt of becoming parents, and after researching options suitable for LGBTQ+ families, we discovered MakeAmom. Excited to take the next step, Jamie began taking prenatal vitamins and tracking her ovulation.

Once we received a positive ovulation test, we contacted our sperm donor to arrange delivery of the sperm. To our delight, we conceived on our very first attempt! We were overjoyed and couldn’t wait to share the news with our friends and family. However, our excitement turned to heartbreak when we experienced a miscarriage. This loss took a significant toll on our relationship, but we were resolute in our desire to try again.

After taking some time to heal, we began our journey anew. Each month felt like an emotional rollercoaster, filled with anticipation and fear as we navigated the “two-week wait,” which often felt like an eternity. On our sixth attempt, we decided to avoid testing early and simply wait for the signs. On June 10th, Jamie’s period was a few days late, prompting us to test once more. This time, we were greeted with a BIG FAT POSITIVE! We are excited to share that our little miracle is due on February 14th, 2021.

Our journey has been challenging, but thanks to MakeAmom, we are now on the path to welcoming our own little one. We send our heartfelt wishes to all those striving to create their families.
