Five and a half years ago, my partner Alex and I embarked on our journey to start a family. After a year of trying without success, we were directed to explore various fertility medications, but nothing worked. By the end of our second year, we found ourselves at the office of a reproductive endocrinologist. Unfortunately, after just two visits, the pandemic hit, and our doctor retired unexpectedly.
As we entered year three, things took a surprising turn when Alex discovered a lump on his testicle. After multiple consultations and tests, we learned it was a cyst affecting his testosterone levels. He started taking fertility meds, hoping it would be the solution to our unexplained infertility. Sadly, it wasn’t.
By the fourth year, we were feeling exhausted by all the consultations and medical bills related to our family-building attempts. One day, while scrolling through social media, I stumbled upon an at-home insemination kit and decided to give it a try. With renewed hope, we incorporated it into our monthly routine. By the end of that year, both Alex and I made healthy lifestyle changes, shedding some pounds and focusing on positivity—we declared, “This is our year to conceive!”
With the combination of at-home insemination and planned intimacy, we are overjoyed to share that we are expecting our little miracle!
