Last year, in January 2022, my partner Lisa and I decided to try home insemination. After just two attempts, I was thrilled to find out I was pregnant. Unfortunately, at 10 weeks, we experienced the heartbreak of a miscarriage. It was devastating, but we were determined to keep trying.
Fast forward to January 2023, we decided to give it another go. This time, we conceived on our very first try, thanks to the ovulation tests and the insemination kit we used. It was super easy to follow the instructions, and I felt hopeful right from the start. Now, I’m 13 weeks along, and we’ve seen our little one’s heartbeat in two ultrasounds. We are beyond grateful for this journey and the resources that helped us along the way. If you’re interested in learning more about at-home conception, check out this post about our experience after a significant investment in previous IUI attempts.
We also found great insights on at-home insemination from Make a Mom and the American Pregnancy Association, both of which are excellent resources for anyone looking to start their family.
In summary, while our journey has had its ups and downs, we are hopeful and excited for what the future holds.
