We are thrilled to share our journey of trying to conceive (TTC) with you. My husband, Alex, and I, Sarah, have been married for eight wonderful years. Our TTC journey began in March 2016, but after a year of unsuccessful attempts, we sought help from a reproductive endocrinologist. Following routine tests in June 2017, we were relieved to learn there were no male factors affecting our fertility. However, a subsequent ultrasound revealed a large fibroid in my uterus, prompting me to undergo an abdominal myomectomy in mid-June to improve my chances of conceiving.
In August, I had an HSG test that indicated my left fallopian tube was blocked, although my ovaries were healthy and my right fallopian tube was open. This meant that natural conception was still a possibility for us. By September, we received the go-ahead to start trying again. I began a medicated cycle using Femara, alongside ovulation predictor kits. After six months of no success, we added Ovidrel to our regimen and continued trying for another six months, which felt like an eternity. After a year of this emotional roller coaster, we consulted again about our options, which included IUI and IVF. The thought of these procedures weighed heavily on my heart, and both Alex and I were feeling exhausted and stressed.
In January 2020, while browsing Facebook, I stumbled upon MakeAmom. Knowing how expensive IUI treatments could be, we decided to give their at-home insemination kit a try. Although our first attempt was unsuccessful, we didn’t lose hope. After taking a break in February, we tried again in March, keeping our faith and staying positive. Finally, we received the joyous news: I’m pregnant! Our little girl, Baby “M,” is expected to arrive in December 2020!
As we conclude our story, I want to emphasize: never give up! You have the strength to overcome any challenge!
