What is Advocacy Day?
Advocacy Day was initiated by Resolve, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about infertility. This year, the spotlight is on the Family Act, a bill introduced in May 2011 by Senator Jamie Thompson from New York. The Family Act aims to provide a tax credit for out-of-pocket IVF expenses, a game-changer for many couples facing fertility challenges. This bill could offer up to $13,000 in tax credits—not just a deduction—which would fundamentally alter how infertility is viewed by the government. It acknowledges that finances should never be a barrier for couples aspiring to start a family.
Why Get Involved?
The Houston Fertility Institute is a strong advocate for this important legislation. We believe it’s not enough to simply support the bill from afar; we want to take action. That’s why we’re heading to Washington D.C. to speak directly with our lawmakers. We aim to communicate that our patients, along with many others across the nation, truly deserve this tax relief for IVF. At our institute, your needs are our top priority—this is all about YOU!
How You Can Help
While our visit to Washington D.C. is crucial, we need your voice as well! It only takes a couple of minutes to send a blanket email to our congress members advocating for the Family Act. You can personalize your message for greater impact—just click this link and fill in the blanks.
