Meet Your Clinical Assistant (CA)
The Clinical Assistant at our organization is a vital part of the patient care team, focused on enhancing the patient experience and collaborating closely with our physicians throughout the diagnostic and treatment journeys.
What Does a Clinical Assistant Do?
A Clinical Assistant provides essential support to patients, doctors, and nurses. Most CAs have a background in the medical field, often coming from roles such as medical assistants or patient service representatives. You can count on them to help navigate your questions and direct you to the right resources. The main responsibilities of a Clinical Assistant include:
- Coordinating patient care by scheduling follow-up and monitoring appointments
- Obtaining prescription authorizations
- Coordinating lab work
- Helping patients find answers and directing them as needed
In some of our locations, CAs also assist with morning monitoring, conducting blood draws, preparing exam rooms, and aiding in various procedures throughout the day.
Your Medical Assistant (MA)
Medical Assistants play a key role during office monitoring visits, where patients undergo ultrasounds and blood tests to assess treatment responses. The MA is responsible for ensuring that patients have safe, smooth, and comprehensive appointments.
What Responsibilities Does a Medical Assistant Have?
At our organization, Medical Assistants are primarily tasked with:
- Drawing blood for testing
- Processing lab specimens and ensuring they reach the correct lab
- Assisting physicians and ultrasound technicians during procedures
- Documenting patient care services in daily logs and records
- Entering lab data and printing labels to maintain the necessary chain of custody for specimens
- Performing semen washes and preparing for intrauterine inseminations (IUIs)
- Taking vital signs and providing general clinical assistance
- Maintaining supplies at blood drawing stations
