Hello, MakeAmom community! We’re excited to share an inspiring story from one of our families, albeit a bit later than we’d hoped. Last August, Alex and Jamie decided to embark on their journey to parenthood using a kit from MakeAmom. Just a week after purchasing the kit, they attempted insemination. They had also picked up some ovulation tests, but when they tested on August 17, 2019, the result was negative. Undeterred, they went ahead with the insemination anyway.
As September rolled around, Jamie noticed that her period didn’t arrive as expected on the 1st. On September 22, they tested again, and this time the ovulation test was positive! They were thrilled—especially since their sperm donor generously donated his sperm to them. They reached out to him, but he wouldn’t be available until 2 A.M. the following day.
After a nervous wait, they proceeded with the insemination. With heartfelt prayers and some soothing baby music in the background, they took a leap of faith. On October 3rd, Jamie’s wife suggested taking a pregnancy test. Jamie hesitated, fearing a negative result, but they pushed forward. When she saw the positive sign on the stick that evening at 7:43 PM, she was overwhelmed with joy, unable to believe her eyes. A follow-up test and even a trip to the store for more tests revealed the same positive outcome, but a clinic appointment left them in disbelief with a negative result.
Determined, Jamie bought more tests, and to their delight, every single one came back positive! A visit to their primary care doctor confirmed the exciting news: they were expecting! Fast forward to today, and the couple is enjoying the joys of parenthood with their healthy five-month-old baby.
If being a little late means we get to celebrate baby “J” with you, then it’s absolutely worth it! We’re incredibly proud of Alex and Jamie for navigating the complexities of ovulation, conception, and known donors while managing mixed test results. It’s a testament to their resilient spirit.
