Hey there! It’s truly a pleasure to share our journey of trying to conceive (TTC) with you all. My partner Jake, 34, and I, Emily, 33, have been married for over eight years. We began actively trying to start a family back in March 2016, but after a year of disappointments, we sought help from a fertility specialist.
After some standard tests in June 2017, it was confirmed that there were no male factors involved, but I discovered I had a significant fibroid in my uterus. I decided to undergo an abdominal myomectomy to remove it and improve my chances of conception. Fast forward to August—I had an HSG test, which revealed that my left fallopian tube was blocked. However, my right tube was open, and my ovaries looked good, so we could still try naturally.
By September, we were cleared to start TTC again. I began a medicated cycle with Femara and ovulation predictor kits. Unfortunately, after six months with no success, we introduced Ovidrel into the mix. Another six months passed, and we found ourselves in a year-long struggle with no baby in sight. It was heartbreaking. My body was exhausted, and Jake and I were feeling the weight of stress. We decided to take a breather from the emotional roller coaster.
In January 2020, while scrolling through social media, I stumbled upon information about at-home insemination. Knowing how pricey IUI treatments could be, we figured we’d give it a shot. Our first attempt didn’t work, but we remained hopeful. We decided to take a break in February, but in March, we tried once more. With faith and a bit of prayer, I’m thrilled to announce that I’M PREGNANT! Our little girl, Baby “L,” is set to arrive in December 2020!
To wrap up our story, I just want to remind anyone out there facing a similar journey: DON’T GIVE UP! You’ve got this!
