Our Commitment to Awareness

Since partnering with RESOLVE, we have significantly contributed to raising infertility awareness, generating over $20,000 through various events like support groups and educational initiatives. These efforts are essential to ensure that everyone has access to family-building options.

Theme of the Week: #StartAsking

This year’s NIAW theme, #StartAsking, encouraged those trying to conceive to voice their questions. We offered numerous platforms for this, including Q&As on popular fertility apps and our first-ever Facebook Live session with Dr. Emily Hart, where we discussed how to embark on fertility treatments.

NIAW serves as a pivotal moment to highlight infertility awareness, but it’s just one of the many ways we engage with the community throughout the year. On May 11, 2023, our team will participate in Advocacy Day, a RESOLVE event where we connect with lawmakers to promote better access to family-building options and financial support.

Becoming Your Own Advocate

With infertility affecting one in eight couples, it’s vital for the community to unite and spread awareness. It’s crucial to recognize when it’s time to consult a fertility specialist, especially since early intervention can greatly influence outcomes. Generally, if a woman under 35 has been trying to conceive for a year without success, it’s advisable to seek help. For women aged 35 to 40, a fertility consultation should be considered after six months of trying, and for those over 40, after just three months.

Beyond age, several factors necessitate a fertility evaluation, such as:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual cycles
  • History of gynecological surgery or infections
  • Known structural issues with reproductive organs
  • Hormonal disorders like thyroid issues
