Our journey to parenthood began nearly five years ago. My partner Alex and I, being part of the LGBTQ+ community, decided to use donor sperm. Despite our efforts, we faced several setbacks and were unable to conceive after multiple attempts. That’s when I started seeking alternative options for home insemination, and that’s when we discovered an incredible kit that changed everything.
After a few more tries and a brief pause, Alex surprised me with the insemination kit as a Christmas gift. We were determined to keep going! Our first attempt with the kit didn’t align perfectly with my cycle, but the second try, right during Mardi Gras, was just right—and it worked! We were overjoyed, and it felt surreal. In total, we had inseminated 12 times, with two successful attempts using the kit. We are thrilled to be welcoming our little Thanksgiving turkey into the world this November. Our gratitude for this journey is immense!
Before we found success with the kit, we explored various methods like IUI, different syringes, and even the cervical cap technique. We had been trying for over 24 months and faced the challenges of being over 35. But we persevered! In summary, our Mardi Gras experience turned into a beautiful turning point in our quest for a family, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support and resources that helped us along the way.
