Two years ago, my partner and I were over the moon when we found out we were expecting our little girl after more than a year of trying. Unfortunately, our joy turned to sorrow when my partner went into premature labor at just 21.5 weeks. Our sweet girl was too tiny to survive, and we were left heartbroken, unsure if we could ever gather the courage to try again. But then we discovered the world of home insemination and decided to give it another shot.

Being a same-sex couple already presents its challenges when starting a family, and experiencing loss adds an extra layer of difficulty. However, after reading countless success stories, we felt inspired to embark on this journey once more. Fast forward to September 2018, and we were ready with our donor and our home insemination kit—exciting times ahead!

The waiting period after insemination was filled with stress and anticipation. Those few weeks felt like an eternity, but when those two pink lines finally appeared on the test, it was clear that our hopes were about to be realized. Our little boy decided to make his grand entrance earlier than expected, arriving on May 12th—Mother’s Day—after a brief stay in the NICU. We were overjoyed to finally bring our miracle baby home!

We are eternally grateful for the resources and kits that helped us navigate this journey.
