A Joyful Conclusion to a Challenging 3-Year Journey with At-Home Insemination!

My partner and I had been dreaming of starting a family for quite some time. I stopped using birth control in April 2015, but shortly after, my partner began experiencing some performance issues. As you can imagine, this made things quite complicated, and we found it hard to open up to each other about the situation. We ended up dancing around the topic rather than addressing it directly.

The year 2016 was particularly tough for us. We were arguing constantly and dreaded coming home after work. By this point, we had almost given up on our baby dreams, and other stresses were piling up, pushing us to the brink.

In 2017, we decided to seek counseling. Initially, it was a bit of a rollercoaster—lots of tears and difficult conversations. However, we both took responsibility for our individual challenges, which helped us reconnect and learn how to effectively navigate our relationship issues. By January 2018, we felt ready to try for a baby again, but this time with renewed determination.

We consulted my doctor about IVF, but the costs were daunting. During a therapy session, my therapist casually suggested, “Why don’t you try the turkey baster method?” I had never heard of it before, but it piqued my curiosity. After discussing it with my partner, we decided to explore this option together. But, of course, I then found myself wondering how to choose the right turkey baster!

A bit of Googling led me to a wealth of information, including various products and personal stories, but nothing felt quite right until we stumbled across a fantastic at-home insemination kit. The videos and articles were so helpful, and we were eager to give it a shot.

We bought three kits and had a blast figuring out how to use them correctly. The first few months didn’t yield any results since we didn’t try consistently. I was traveling during ovulation in April and May, which meant we missed those opportunities. Fortunately, a friend recommended the Natural Cycles app for tracking ovulation, which turned out to be a game changer.

In June, we used the syringe every other day during my ovulation week—still nothing. July rolled around, and we did the same thing, but this time it worked! I took a pregnancy test last week and got a #bigfatpositive! We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally announce that we’re expecting our little one!

Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way; we truly couldn’t have done it without the right resources.

Sincerely,
T&J from Minneapolis, MN
