Hey there! I’m Lucy, and I want to share a heartfelt story about how my amazing sister, Sarah, stepped up to help my husband and me start our family. At just 20 years old, I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, which was a tough pill to swallow. Right away, Sarah volunteered to be our surrogate, and we couldn’t have been more grateful.
Fast forward a bit, and we were ready to try for a baby. We thought it might take a few months, so we dove into research, joined all the online groups about trying to conceive, surrogacy, and home insemination, and found some great resources like this one. Eventually, we decided to give it a go with the BabyMaker kit, which I found on Make a Mom.
To our delight, we got pregnant on the first attempt! Sadly, a few weeks later, we learned during a doctor’s appointment that the baby had stopped developing, leading to a heartbreaking miscarriage. It was a tough moment for all of us, but we were determined to try again. After taking a cycle off to regroup, we gave it another shot and were overjoyed to see a positive result this time.
Now, at 14 weeks along, we just found out we’re having a boy! We’re so excited and can’t thank Sarah enough for being our rock throughout this journey. It’s incredible how our story unfolded, and we hope it inspires others facing similar challenges in their path to parenthood.
