Hey there! I’m Sarah Thompson, the creative mind behind this blog. Once upon a time, I was a creative director at an ad agency, but in 2005, I took the leap to freelance as an art director and graphic designer. My partner and I have two amazing little dudes (born in 2007 and 2009) who are truly the sunshine in our lives, even if they drive us a bit bonkers sometimes. We adore them more than coffee! We reside in a cozy spot in the outskirts of Los Angeles with our fur babies, Max and Whiskers.
Want to know a bit more? Here are some quirky tidbits about me:
- I can promise you that every post you read here will have at least one mistake, despite my best efforts to proofread everything multiple times.
- I believe that Tina Fey is the funniest person around. Meeting her would probably have me in tears, similar to how I imagine fans react to their favorite pop stars.
- My music taste is all over the place; I enjoy everything from Fleetwood Mac to Eminem, and even classical music finds its way onto my playlist.
- I’m not really a chocolate person—yes, I know that makes me an outlier in the world!
- Although I can be quite shy, I often mask it with a bubbly persona.
- You’d be surprised at how many holes are behind the pictures in my house; I can’t seem to hang them right the first time!
- I have a few outfits that were originally meant to be beach cover-ups, but who says they can’t double as everyday wear?
- I love birdwatching and gardening, which might just make my transition into retirement a breeze—coffee with dessert is just a matter of time!
- I don’t quite get modern poetry, jazz, or long-distance running, no matter how much I try to appreciate them.
- I have a strange fear of heights and mascots, so let’s just say I wouldn’t fare well if the A&W Bear chased me up a ladder.
- I can identify dog breeds with surprising accuracy; it’s a random skill that I can’t explain.
- The sweetest sound? My kids munching on their snacks.
- I have a knack for giving my kids quirky nicknames like Bug and Snicky Snake, which they probably think is hilarious.
- I wish I could converse in Mandarin and play the banjo—imagine shouting “ni hao” and then strumming a bluegrass tune!
- I’m always shocked when I don’t win the lottery—optimism or foolishness? Maybe both!
- If I’m dining solo, it’s almost guaranteed that I’ll opt for spaghetti.
- I save all the holiday cards I receive; they’re like little treasures.
- I never leave fries behind—who could?
- Oh, and I used to model in Ukraine, but I traded that in for my passion for historical reenactment (just kidding… sort of).
