4moms Recall 2022: MamaRoo and RockaRoo Alert

In a recent announcement, 4moms has initiated a recall of over 2 million MamaRoo baby swings and RockaRoo rockers due to potential entanglement and strangulation risks. This recall affects consumers in both the U.S. and Canada, following alarming reports to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Specifically, the restraint straps of the MamaRoo and RockaRoo can become a hazard when they dangle below the seats when not in use. Infants who are crawling can become entangled in these straps, leading to serious risks, including one reported death and another incident resulting in neck bruising.

To address this safety concern, caregivers can order a complimentary strap fastener from the company, which attaches to the back of the seat and keeps the straps securely in place. Even if your child is not yet crawling, 4moms recommends obtaining this fastener to ensure maximum safety. Until the fastener arrives, the CPSC advises that you move the MamaRoo or RockaRoo out of reach of crawling infants.

It’s also worth noting that the newly released MamaRoo model 1046, launched in July 2022, is not included in this recall as it features a redesigned harness configuration. The recalled MamaRoo models are 4M-005, 1026, and 1037, while the impacted RockaRoo model is 4M-012.
