When a Single Mother By Choice Had to Change Donors, She Discovered a Lifelong Friendship!

It all began when my close friend decided to be the sperm donor for my future child. However, when the time came for insemination, my friend had a change of heart, leaving me feeling lost and unsure of where to turn next. After some research, I discovered supportive communities online, such as a free sperm donor matching group on Facebook, which helped me connect with potential donors.

Eventually, I found a donor through the “Just A Baby” app and we agreed to meet in a public place for our first encounter. During our dinner, we got to know each other, and afterward, we went to a hotel where he guided me on the process of at-home insemination using the tools provided by MakeAmom. Although our first attempt was unsuccessful, we committed to trying at least three times before considering other options. Miraculously, on our second try, I became pregnant, and today I am thrilled to share that I am 19 weeks along!

Interestingly, while my donor prefers to remain anonymous, we developed a wonderful friendship during our meetings. Our bond is platonic, as I identify as a lesbian, but I cherish the connection we’ve built. I look forward to welcoming Baby J, who is due on October 29, 2021.
