Celebrating One Year of Our Chinese Patient Program

Hey everyone! We’re excited to share that it’s been a whole year since we launched our special program for Chinese patients. This initiative is one-of-a-kind in the San Francisco Bay Area and caters to both local residents and those traveling from Asia.

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) made its debut in places like China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan back in the mid-80s. However, there’s still a huge demand that’s not being met, with around 10 million couples facing infertility challenges. This situation has led many affluent couples to seek top-notch ART services here. Plus, those living in the Bay Area have found it easy to connect with our services, thanks to our focus on overcoming language and cultural barriers.

Meet Dr. Mei Chen

Leading our Chinese Patient Program is Dr. Mei Chen, who grew up in Beijing and is fluent in both Mandarin and English. Having been part of our team for about three years, Dr. Chen has seen a significant increase in the number of Chinese patients seeking care. “Our main aim is to provide better access for patients who might struggle with English, whether they are local or visitors from Asia,” explains Dr. Chen. Many patients come here for superior care and options that they can’t find back home, like egg donation or gestational surrogacy.

Supporting Our Patients

Dr. Chen also emphasizes the importance of supporting individuals from her culture. “Many of them face challenges navigating a new healthcare system, and for some, the social pressure surrounding family lineage can make their journey even more difficult.” To ensure these patients feel supported, we’ve added a native Chinese interpreter to our staff. This person helps translate for the team, making the whole experience smoother for everyone involved.
