We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news with you! The Houston Fertility Institute is expanding our team, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome Dr. Alex Taylor, a passionate infertility specialist hailing from Texas.

Dr. Taylor’s journey into medicine started when he spent a summer in the bustling Texas Medical Center. Inspired by the impact a physician can have on people’s lives, he pursued his education at the University of Texas at Austin and later attended a prestigious medical program at UT Southwestern, where he thrived. His residency and fellowship at Duke University Hospital and the Duke Fertility Center further honed his skills, earning him recognition among his peers as the administrative chief resident. His dedication to reproductive medicine has been recognized at research conferences, and he has shared his insights through lectures both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Taylor is excited to bring his expertise to HFI, especially in educating families about the diverse applications of fertility treatments. He believes that these treatments can assist not only those facing infertility but also families dealing with hereditary diseases and cancer syndromes. His commitment to making reproductive options accessible to everyone aligns perfectly with our goals at HFI.

Getting to Know Dr. Taylor

To help you get to know Dr. Taylor a bit better, we had a casual chat with him:

HFI: What inspired you to enter the medical field?
Dr. Taylor: I’ve always enjoyed connecting with people and helping them achieve their goals. My pivotal moment came at 18 when I worked with a heart surgeon and witnessed the profound impact of medicine. This experience solidified my decision to become a doctor. Once I discovered reproductive endocrinology, it felt like the perfect blend of science and the human experience.

HFI: Where have you practiced before?
Dr. Taylor: My wife and I relocated to North Carolina for my residency and fellowship at Duke, where I gained hands-on experience in various settings, from labor and delivery to fertility clinics. I am eager to join the talented team at Houston Fertility Institute.

HFI: What drives your passion in this field?
Dr. Taylor: I love educating others about reproductive medicine. There’s so much misinformation out there, and I find joy in clarifying how safe and effective fertility treatments are—even for issues unrelated to infertility. I also enjoy advocating for policy changes to remove barriers to family building.

HFI: What do you enjoy outside of work?
Dr. Taylor: Food and music are my two great loves! I often explore new cuisines and enjoy playing musical instruments with my family. I can’t wait for my daughter to join me in music lessons!

HFI: What excites you most about your role here?
Dr. Taylor: The most rewarding aspect is sharing in the joy of patients achieving their dreams of parenthood, especially during those memorable “graduation ultrasound visits.”

HFI: Any awards or recognition you’d like to share?
Dr. Taylor: I’ve been fortunate to receive a scholarship for medical school and to have been recognized at various research conferences. My mentors have also played a significant role in my development.

HFI: What would you like potential patients to know?
Dr. Taylor: I see it as a privilege to support patients through their fertility journeys. Listening to their stories is my priority, and I’m always available for any questions they might have during their treatment process. Communication is key to a successful experience!
