We’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Emily Carter, the latest addition to our team! This fall, she will be our first physician serving patients at our new Fredericksburg office, expanding our reach in the greater Washington, D.C. area.

Dr. Carter earned her degree magna cum laude in biology from Harvard University, before going on to complete her medical training at Johns Hopkins University. There, she graduated with honors and specialized in obstetrics and gynecology at the prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital. As a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. Carter is dedicated to offering the most advanced fertility treatments and financial options to help patients access the care they need.

We caught up with Dr. Carter to chat about her journey into reproductive medicine, what motivates her, and how she likes to unwind.

How would you describe your personality?

I’d say I’m an enthusiastic and warm extrovert who tackles challenges with a focused approach. Friends often describe me as kind-hearted, relatable, and approachable.

What drew you to reproductive endocrinology?

My passion for science began early on, and my experiences as a volunteer in a hospital solidified my desire to become a doctor. My fascination with the emotional and physical journey of family-building led me to obstetrics and gynecology, and I transitioned into reproductive endocrinology to support couples facing more complex challenges.

Who inspires you?

I draw inspiration from a variety of sources. My patients inspire me to continuously learn and grow, while leaders like Michelle Obama and Ellen DeGeneres motivate me with their strength, humor, and resilience. My own family has enriched my life and fuels my commitment to helping others find joy in parenthood.

Can you share a memorable moment with a patient?

There are so many rewarding moments in this field. I find that the most inspiring interactions happen with patients who, despite facing setbacks, remain hopeful and resilient. Those deep connections formed during tough times are incredibly meaningful.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

After a long day, I love hitting the trails for a run with my favorite playlist. I also enjoy skiing with my family—there’s something magical about being in nature. While I used to be an avid tennis player, I now find more joy in traveling and experiencing new cultures, especially in a vibrant place like D.C.

What excites you about joining our team?

I’m truly excited to be part of a team that embodies collaboration, integrity, and a shared vision for patient care. As a former athlete, I appreciate being part of a group that strives to lead in our field with a unified mission.

How do you approach helping patients facing struggles?

Infertility can be an incredibly taxing experience, impacting many aspects of life. I’m committed to walking alongside my patients, offering compassion and accurate information, while helping them navigate this challenging journey with hope.
