We’re excited to introduce Dr. Alex Turner, the newest addition to our Richmond medical team! Dr. Turner joins a talented group of specialists who are dedicated to helping families grow and thrive.
Dr. Turner is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia, where he excelled as an Echols Scholar. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Maryland. Following this, he pursued a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at George Washington University, during which he conducted significant research at the National Institutes of Health.
Before joining our team, Dr. Turner served as the Medical Director at the Virginia IVF and Andrology Center, a facility he co-founded back in 1998. He has a wealth of experience, including teaching roles at the University of Texas, where he has published numerous papers and received accolades for his teaching excellence.
Currently, Dr. Turner holds a position as a Clinical Professor in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Medical College of Virginia. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Q: What inspired you to become a Reproductive Endocrinologist?
A: During my residency, I was fortunate to learn from Dr. Sam Roberts, who showed me the profound emotional and technical aspects of assisting women in conception. I was inspired by the possibilities that in vitro fertilization opened up for so many families.

A: My grandmother. Her unwavering support and understanding as a school counselor made a lasting impression on me. She taught me the importance of empathy and patience—qualities that I strive to embody in my practice.

A: I enjoy cooking, playing basketball, reading novels, and solving puzzles. Engaging in challenging activities allows me to focus and escape briefly, much like the rewarding experiences I have in the operating room.

A: I’m proud to be part of a team that is truly dedicated to our mission. It feels more like a calling than just a job.

A: I’d love to spend a week working in a professional kitchen, learning from seasoned chefs.

A: I prioritize listening and understanding each patient’s unique situation. I aim to treat everyone as if they were a dear friend or family member.
