Operating out of our Richmond – Stony Point – Forest Ave office, Dr. Patel specializes in a comprehensive range of advanced diagnostic and treatment options for infertility in both men and women. Dr. Patel’s journey began with an undergraduate degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His passion for healthcare led him to Nicaragua, where he worked to enhance the well-being of women and children. He later earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Dr. Patel completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Duke University, where he also became a valued member of the medical team.
While at Duke, he pursued a Master’s in Health Economics and Clinical Research, focusing on enhancing fertility care by minimizing miscarriages and increasing safety. With nearly a decade of experience at Duke, he trained with leaders in minimally invasive surgical techniques. His hard work has been recognized with various teaching awards, and he even participated in the first single-incision laparoscopic procedure in the Southeast during his residency.
As a dedicated researcher, Dr. Patel has received prestigious honors, including the Investigator Award at the Society of Gynecologic Investigation Conference in 2010. He has published numerous articles and frequently speaks on topics related to fertility and reproductive endocrinology.
Dr. Patel is a firm believer in patient-centered care, earning accolades like “Top Doc” for infertility from Richmond Magazine. He values each patient as if they were family, which he believes is key to providing compassionate care. Additionally, he’s passionate about outreach efforts, serving as a physician liaison for Race for Parenthood, an event aimed at raising funds for couples seeking assisted reproductive technologies.

“I have always admired astronauts for their perseverance and ability to push boundaries. I apply that same spirit to medicine, encouraging couples to overcome their struggles together.”
What hobbies do you enjoy?
“I love triathlons! They challenge me both mentally and physically, and they keep me grounded and focused on what matters.”

“The dedication of our team to patient care is incredible. Everyone, from the nurses to the admin staff, genuinely cares about helping people achieve their dreams of parenthood.”

“I once worked with a military spouse who faced immense challenges, from a difficult IVF cycle to advocating for her husband’s mental health. Her determination to support her family and pursue IVF coverage through her congressman was truly inspiring. She is now expecting a beautiful baby girl!”
