Meet Chloe and Mark, a couple from Brighton who have a heartwarming story about their journey through IVF. After trying for a baby for two long years, they faced the heartbreaking news that Chloe had a blocked fallopian tube. “I was at the local clinic when the doctor informed me that I needed surgery to remove both tubes,” Chloe recalls.

Following the operation, which left her feeling devastated, Chloe was reassured by her doctor that she still had a good chance of conceiving through IVF. They were referred to Wessex Fertility for assistance. In the summer of 2018, they had their first consultation at the clinic in Poole with Dr. Emily Carter, who recommended a long protocol for IVF. Unfortunately, this year quickly turned into a challenging one for the couple, as Chloe lost both her parents within a brief span of weeks.

Despite the emotional turmoil, they began their IVF journey together, with Mark helping Chloe with her daily injections. “It felt amazing to share this experience as a team,” said Chloe. The egg retrieval took place at Wessex Fertility’s Southampton clinic, where four of Chloe’s eggs were successfully fertilized. After a tense two-week wait, they were overjoyed to learn that they were expecting. However, their excitement was short-lived when their first scan revealed no fetal heartbeat. “The miscarriage was another heartbreaking moment for us,” Chloe remembers, as they leaned on family for support during this difficult time.

Once they felt ready to try again, they opted to transfer one of their frozen embryos. Just before the two-week wait concluded, Chloe experienced some bleeding, causing her to fear the worst. But then came the joyful surprise of a positive pregnancy test! “I had a feeling I was pregnant, but all the worry from the previous experience lingered,” she said. They discovered Chloe had a haematoma next to the baby, which required careful monitoring through weekly scans, offering them some reassurance.

With incredible support from Wessex Fertility, the bleed eventually resolved, and Chloe enjoyed a healthy pregnancy. On March 15, 2019, they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Zoe Marie, weighing in at 7lbs 4oz. “It’s still surreal! Every day we look at her and feel so much joy. Zoe is truly our miracle baby,” shared Mark.

Chloe and Mark can’t wait to celebrate Zoe’s first Christmas together. “It’s going to be magical! We’re planning a family trip to Disneyland Florida right after Christmas to introduce her to our relatives there. It’s been a year of dreams coming true, and we owe so much to the clinic!”
