It’s a fantastic way to help couples who are struggling to conceive. Donating your eggs (oocytes) can truly change lives for those who want to start a family but can’t do so without your support.
Eligibility Requirements
If you’re interested, here’s what you need to know! First off, to be eligible to donate, you should be between 23 and 36 years old, in good physical and mental health, and free from any severe hereditary conditions in your family. You’ll also need to be HIV-negative and not at an elevated risk for other sexually transmitted infections. Additionally, your ovarian reserve should be average for your age, which can be checked through blood tests and an ultrasound.
The Registration Process
Once you register, you’ll have a no-pressure chat with one of our doctors. They’ll discuss your medical history, the health risks of the donation process, and your hopes for your own family. Plus, you’ll learn about the donation procedure and the laws surrounding it here in the Netherlands.
Screening for STDs
Now, about screening for STDs: it’s required by Dutch guidelines, so tests for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea will be necessary. If any tests come back positive (unless you’ve been vaccinated against Hepatitis B), we won’t be able to move forward with your donation.
Donor Agreement
You’ll also go through a donor agreement which explains everything in detail. Remember, in the Netherlands, anonymous egg donation isn’t permitted. All donor information is kept on record, and identifying details can be shared with the child after they reach a certain age.
Compensation for Donors
Worried about compensation? While it’s illegal to sell eggs, you will be reimbursed for your time and effort, plus any travel expenses incurred. We offer €680 for a complete treatment, along with €0.19 per kilometer for travel.
