Meet Our Co-Founder
Meet our co-founder and clinical director, Mia Thompson. With her extensive background in maternal health, Mia is passionate about empowering individuals to embrace their own strength during pregnancy and childbirth. Since starting her journey in maternal health in 2012, she has dedicated her career to ensuring that all parents have a safe and encouraging experience. Mia previously served as a Nurse Midwife and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California San Francisco, and she also completed a High Risk Obstetric Midwifery Fellowship there. Her diverse experience includes work as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and as a doula. Mia received her nursing degree from New York University, followed by her Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) degrees from UCSF.
Mia says, “The current state of maternity care in the U.S. often leads to less-than-ideal outcomes, which is why I joined Millie—to offer the comprehensive and empathetic care that every birthing person and their little one deserve.“
