Why Choose Millie?
Because you truly deserve more than the usual healthcare experience.
From Our Founders
Our journey began during a challenging time.
Meet Jamie and Alex, two passionate individuals with a background in healthcare. Having family ties to medicine, I (Jamie) was aware of some flaws in the U.S. maternity care system. But nothing could prepare me for what I faced after a difficult pregnancy. Just 36 hours after being discharged, I found myself in the ER, grappling with serious complications like HELLP syndrome and postpartum preeclampsia. It was a real eye-opener to the shortcomings of maternal care.
As I lay in the CT scanner, two thoughts struck me simultaneously: I was thankful for the medical team fighting for my health, yet acutely aware of how the whole system had failed me. After enduring a long and complicated labor that ended in an unplanned C-section, I was simply sent home with generic post-discharge instructions and told to return weeks later for a follow-up. No one checked on me in between, which felt utterly inadequate.
Once the chaos subsided and I knew my baby and I were safe, I reached out to my midwife, Alex, to discuss what had gone wrong. I asked her, “If you could design care that truly meets the needs of birthing people, what would it look like?”
We wanted to change the broken maternity care system from within.
Fueled by our experiences, Alex and I began mapping out our vision for better care. We even found a fantastic healthcare engineer named Taylor, who shared our frustrations and had just navigated her own challenging pregnancy journey.
From the outset, we aimed to be more than just another telehealth app; we wanted to transform maternity care fundamentally. We were both tired of the long waits for appointments, the rushed 15-minute consultations, and the lack of emotional and educational support during such a vulnerable time. Alex, as a provider, wanted to offer more continuous support during early parenthood, and all of us were eager to create a collaborative environment.
By gathering insights from patients, families, midwives, and healthcare professionals, we brought the Millie care model to life—a modern maternity and gynecology clinic that combines culturally competent care with the latest technology.
