My partner and I were ready to expand our family, but then Covid-19 hit our area hard. We had scheduled an insemination appointment at our clinic, but the doctor informed us that we would need to wait a significant time before we could get started (we weren’t exactly at the top of their list). Feeling discouraged, my partner discovered at-home insemination while scrolling through social media one day. Intrigued by the success stories, we decided to give it a try.

With the help of a cryobank, we chose a donor and had the vials delivered to our home. We created a cozy atmosphere with candlelight and essential oils, and to our delight, we were successful on the very first attempt! Fast forward to now, and my partner recently gave birth to our little miracle—a son who arrived 10 weeks prematurely on November 29th. He weighed just 4 pounds and is currently in the NICU, but he’s doing fantastic, free from any breathing machines or IVs.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to become parents through this more affordable and personal method, and we hope our journey encourages other couples, especially LGBTQ+ ones, to explore similar paths.
