Hey friends! We wanted to share our incredible journey of bringing our little miracle, Baby “S,” into the world.
My partner, Jamie, and I have been together for over six years, always dreaming of expanding our family. With an 11-year-old son, we decided in 2017 it was time to take the plunge and try for another. Before we began our journey, I had a partial oophorectomy, which made me doubt my chances of conceiving. But we didn’t let that stop us!
In September 2017, we started trying to conceive. Our first attempt involved the soft cup/fresh sperm method, but we didn’t get that coveted positive test. After a bit of research and joining some online communities for LGBTQ couples, we learned a lot about timing and ovulation peaks, which we hadn’t focused on before. We also discovered that while our sperm was healthy, it struggled with low motility. This meant we needed a bit more help to get the sperm to where it needed to be.
That’s when we found out about an at-home insemination kit online. After hearing success stories from others who had used it, we decided to give it a shot the following April. We used fresh sperm right at the peak of my ovulation window, and guess what? On Mother’s Day, we got the biggest surprise—a positive pregnancy test! It was so strong that we even thought we might be having twins!
Using the kit was a breeze—comfortable and straightforward. Now, we have a beautiful four-month-old daughter who brings us so much joy. Our best advice? Take your time and create a cozy atmosphere when using the kit at home. A good movie, some laughter, and a lot of love go a long way!
We are forever grateful for this journey and can’t recommend the kit enough to anyone trying to conceive. We’re already planning to use it again for our next bundle of joy! ❤
