Hey there! So, my partner and I have been dreaming about starting our own family for quite some time now. We always knew we wanted to have kids, and when the time felt right, we had a few friends offer to be our sperm donor. After some careful consideration, we finally made our choice. The next step was figuring out the best way to conceive at home since we wanted to be in a comfortable environment.
After doing our homework on various home insemination kits, we kept coming across glowing reviews and success stories about one specific kit. After much thought, we decided to give it a try. We began our journey in November 2019, but initially, we struggled with understanding ovulation timing. Our attempts were a bit off, and we faced disappointment month after month.
Determined, I started tracking my ovulation more closely, and we decided to try again in March. I was so hopeful, but once again, I got my monthly visit, and it was disheartening for both of us. We thought it might be a good idea to check in with a doctor to ensure everything was okay, but then the pandemic hit, and suddenly making an appointment felt less urgent.
Fast forward to April. I continued tracking my ovulation, and when I noticed I was ovulating again, I insisted to my partner that we should give it another shot. Our donor came over for two consecutive days right when I was surging. After the insemination, I took two tests exactly two weeks later, and to my surprise, I got a positive result within seconds!
We are beyond thrilled to share that we’ve started our own family, and we can’t thank our home insemination kit enough! We’ve even recommended it to our friends in the LGBTQ community.
An update: Our little bundle of joy arrived on December 30, 2020, weighing in at 9 pounds and measuring 19 inches long. We couldn’t be happier! It’s been a challenging journey, especially during these trying times, but our patience and persistence truly paid off. If you’re on a similar journey, stay hopeful—there’s light at the end of the tunnel!
